News Release: Together in Community, United in Song

Recently, the Piscataquis Democrats sponsored “Together in Community, United in Song” at the
Central Hall Commons in Dover-Foxcroft. Aside from providing time to enjoy music with
community, this event raised funds for the Piscataquis Regional Food Center and Helping
Hands with Heart. Both groups support struggling families. These groups have experienced
drastic cuts to their budgets with the present administration. With the high price of food, gas,
heating oil, rent or mortgage, and health care, many families live paycheck to paycheck; an
unexpected bill often results in being unable to cover the costs of the basic necessities of
life. Both PRFC and HHH are there to support families going through these kinds of crises. At
our event, we were able to raise $1,000 and to gather an abundance of food items for donation.
This past week, we delivered a $500 check to each of these organizations and the food to the
PRFC. Since 2021, we have raised $14,350 for families in need and it is crucial that we continue
our mission.
